Not For Ourselves is a robust novel that spans lifetimes in the most unique way possible by weaving a tale of revolving reincarnation.

Not For Ourselves
A Book Review
By Cate Cavanagh

Theresa Chaze has once again proven herself to be a premier Wiccan author of amazing skill and creativity! Not For Ourselves is a robust novel that spans lifetimes in the most unique way possible by weaving a tale of revolving reincarnation.

Readers knowledgeable of the Craft will find this approach familiar yet refreshing in depiction as we witness the flashing back and forth of a character in the present reliving moments of a previous life whose errors have followed her through many incarnations including the present.

Through Alyssa’s eyes we see how conflicted relationships are fast forwarded to the present as she comes to recognize antagonists of her past life tormenting her in the present. Alyssa’s biggest challenge is to rejoin her past self and seek to correct the error that sent her span of lives into the condemnation of karmic debt.

A victim of stalking and terrorism by a local police officer Alyssa is forced to send her cats to live with her sister, Michelle. Reporting this officer (Nevel) is useless as the blue wall converges about him, rendering him protected against prosecution. As her torment continues week after week and month after month the result is the loss of her job as well what has become her fragile sanity. Despite this she fosters enough strength to vlog a diary of what is happening as well as publishing his threatening phone calls. When he and a fellow officer come to her house with false charges and threats, Alyssa finds her cause has been followed by the FBI for some time. Angry that they allowed her to live in constant fear she searches for a way to find peace again and to come away with her goddess given power once more!

Complicating matters is James, the FBI agent that rescues her and Wayne the attorney helping his father deliver hay to the reclaimed horse farm that Alyssa resumes on her path to recovery. But is Wayne in town to defend her tormentors?

So thorough is Theresa’s research she writes of how Alyssa houses an injured possum rather than have him free to roam the stable because its feces can cause serious, life threatening illness. As a horsewoman, I was very impressed with this authenticity.

Authentic as well as her description of projecting oneself into a past life and back again. Authentic as well is how she depicts the physical, mental, and emotional turmoil that rapid astral traveling can be. Those of us of the Craft have experienced this and it is very impressive that Theresa set before her the daunting challenge to recreate not just the physical sensations of trying to undo past errors but the very important tenets of the Wiccan path.

Upon completion of Not For Ourselves, those of the Craft will be sated knowing that someone like Theresa writes a true representation of this treasured belief system while opening a whole new realm of reading experience for the average reader.

Kudos to you Theresa Chaze! Well done!

Author Uses Paranormal Genre to Understand and Heal Through Sexual Assault

What do you do when life hands you lemons. Authors make lemonade by writing the challenges into their work. Theresa Chaze is no different. Written as a way to cope with and to understand the sexual assault, Not for Ourselves tells the tale of a woman, who is attacked and tormented by men she met for the first time at a Pagan Festival. Unable to comprehend why they chose her, she performs a magical ritual that was designed to help her understand why they would want to destroy a stranger's life. All though it is fictionalized story, it reflects how the assault and the months of harassment afterward shattered her life and nearly turned Chaze into a shut-in

Before October 18, 2006, Chaze was confident gregarious woman, who faced life with moxie and courage. Her writing career had begun to take off with the launch of her novels and screenplays. She sought out adventures and blazed her own trails through life. All that ended on October 18, 2006. The person she was died that night and she became someone she didn't recognize. Before, she forgave easily. At midnight her slate was wiped clean and everyone, including herself, had a fresh start for the new day. All that changed. The fear overshadowed her life. Leaving her home sent her into panic attacks that triggered severe asthma episodes. The fear became a rage that she turned both inward and onto others. There were many times in the next two years that she had the razor blade out and the note was written. Good friends keeping careful watch over her is the only reason she didn't follow through. Instead of asking for justice, she sought vengeance on those who had harmed her. When Chaze lost her ability to function, she sought help and was diagnosed with PTSD, After years of therapy, Chaze has glued the shards of her former self together to create a life that once again based on love, light, and hope. Writing Not For Ourselves helped her complete the healing process
.
Alyssa attends a local Pagan festival to read Tarot Cards as a way of raising funds for a local animal rescue organization. When a group of drunken men invade the festival, attacking the attendee and destroying the booths, she and others stand up to them only to learn that they are off-duty deputy sheriffs. Unwilling to let their bad behavior slide, they file complaints only to learn that the leader of the pack is the Justin Nevel, the Sheriff's nephew. Although she is one of many who complain, Nevel focuses his need for revenge on Alyssa. His harassment quickly escalates. When friends and co-workers stand up for her, his intimidation spreads to them. In an attempt to understand why she was singled out, Alyssa performs a magical ritual. But instead of receiving an answer, she is taken back to a Scottish parish and the life when she was known as Shannon Marie Cullen.

The granddaughter and heir of Jacqueline Marie Katherine de Medici, Shannon Marie lived both in and out of clan tradition. However, unlike their older sisters, she and her younger sister, Rachael, were spared the limitations and intrigues of court. Raised more like sons than daughters, they were wild and free. Both saw life as a challenge to be met and conquered. Yet there was one sadness that Shannon Marie was forced to accept or so she thought. Clan tradition stood between her and Michael being together, which led to him choosing the path of the Goddess. She loved him enough to honor his decision until the obstacles between them suddenly vanished. She selfishly agrees to the marriage. Instead of joy, their union brings about betrayal, bloodshed, and murder
.
As the memories of her past life awakened, Alyssa melds with her former self. Watching the events before her death unfold, she began to understand how the manipulation of others followed them through the ages until they are forced to again meet. In the past, one man loved her, yet her selfishness betrayed his trust. One man hated her for who she was and for what he could never have. Both have again entered her life. Have they learned enough to put finally put the past to rest or will they again make the same choices that led to murder and revenge?

Jacqueline must decide on saving her son and releasing an ancient evil

In partnership with Kaleidoscope Film and Television, Cosmos Production announces the development of the Gothic Horror feature film, Chalice Island. Written by Writer-Producer Theresa Chaze, the project was originally conceived after a conversation with actor David Selby. A fan of both Dark Shadows and Selby, Chaze took his off-handed comment to heart and used plot threads left behind by Dan Curtis to weave a new feature. Combining new talent with the original actors, she continued the Collins' family legacy, However, when Chaze had been unable to attain rights to Dark Shadows, she edited out those elements to create an entirely new project.

Even after being off the air for nearly 50 years, Dark Shadows continues to have a strong and loyal fan base. It has launched several networks, including the SyFy Channel. The conventions continue to draw fans from around the world, More of a parody than a continuation of the Dark Shadows brand, the 2012 feature angered and frustrated the fans, which is why it failed at the box office. Yet the brand remains strong and viable in spite of the “movie that shall not be named.” Chalice Island cannot replace Dark Shadows. It wouldn't even try. What it will do both as a feature film and the pilot for a new series is stay true to the original Dark Shadows, buy continuing the tradition of Gothic Horror, Romance, and cliffhangers.

With characters ranging in age from 10 to 60+ with the primary age range between 20 and 50, Chalice Island will cross age demographics.  It will attract the prized 18-49 year old demographic while enticing the fan bases with the original actors who have been cast fully developed and substantial roles. The new characters include the 20-somethings Julia, Jonathan, Davy, Constance, and Katheryn's children, The list of 30-50-year-old characters include Susanna, Joe, Joshua, and Cheryl, Ethnic inclusiveness will be woven into the fabric with a strong Native American presence and the ethnic diversity of Katheryn's grandchildren.

Jacqueline's capacity to love is only exceeded by her need for vengeance after she finds her mother raped and murdered. When a source of evil offers both her and her brother, Jackson, the means to gain revenge, they enthusiastically embrace the dark arts. After 150 years of blood sacrifices, she meets Morgan. His love heals her old wounds. Hiding the chalice, she breaks the cycle of blood. Although Jackson could have stopped, them, he chooses to allow Jacqueline and Morgan to escape. His act of compassion costs him dearly. Decades later, Frank finds Jacqueline and Morgan on a small Reservation. Over the decades, she has earned grace. As long as she refrains from using her powers, she will remain untouchable. Yet, Frank knows her true weakness. His first attempt on her children only served to make Jacqueline more obsessive and controlling over their safety. Her smothering made her son, Jonathan, angry and vulnerable. As the clock winds down, Frank sends the vampire that he created to bring him to Chalice Island. Jacqueline and Morgan return to find their past has not been forgotten or forgiven. Frank demands that she return the chalice. If she returns it, he will release the ancient evil. If she refuses, her son will become a vampire that she will either have to kill or force him to live in eternal confinement. If she uses her power to save her son, she forfeits her grace, erasing her life with Morgan, their children, and all the good she had done. Jackson remains the wild card. Only Bailey knows he has returned. Which side will he take or does he have an agenda all his own.

Chalice Island, the series will continue the drama, suspense, and romance. The plot twists will create as many questions as it does answers. Will the vampire, Davy retain control over Jonathan or will the mysterious Constance steal him from her? Jonathan finds himself torn between the two women, yet he finds himself attracted to forbidden love. They thought they prevented Jon from becoming a vampire by performing the ritual and cremating his body. Yet Jackson's interference kept his soul from finding peace. As he reaches out to his wife, Katheryn, she becomes determined to bring him back by whatever means necessary. Will she reach out to the ancient evil? Or like Jackson, will she find another way? Did the ghosts of his victims take their revenge on Frank or did he find sanctuary? All these questions and more will be answered in the first season of Chalice Island.

Even when we chose to make the changes, the excitement intertwines with apprehension as we walk through the threshold into unknown. Some people we meet will help and support you. Some will challenge you. But each of them will play an important role in helping you learn and grow. Chose to have the courage to believe in yourself and the tomorrows as they appear before you. When you make that conscious choice, who and what you need will appear in your life to help you meet your challenges and achieve your dreams. You are here at this perfect time and the perfect place for the perfect reason. When you listen to your heart and ignore your fears you will see the path before you and be able to understand the challenges in your life.
Available on Amazon as a Kindle and in paperback.

Horses and Heroes is a Reality TV series, which combines the highly effective Peer Support Therapy with Equine Therapy. Unlike most in the genre, it will focus on healing and positive growth rather than endorsing bad behavior. Each season will bring together veterans from WWII to the current conflicts. They will be sharing their challenges and supporting each other as they find new solutions to their physical and emotional challenges. They know the talk, because they have walked the walk. They see the dodges and will be able to call each other on them. Sparks may fly. Tempers may flare, especially when they force each other to face their ghosts. But there will also be laughter and fun as they rebuild the comradery, which kept them safe and strong. The snarkiness and practical jokes between the branches doesn't simply end. There is always room for just one more. This interaction will help them rebuild that sense of brother and sisterhood they depended on while serving, which will help them reclaim their civilian lives. When it airs, it will reach into the homes of the veterans, who need to hear that they are not alone, and give them information as well as permission they need to also heal. They will help each other find their way back to the world. Veterans can’t go back and make a brand new start; but they can start from now and make a brand new end.

Rebirth of the Dark Shadows style Gothic Horror

Some of you know that I am a writer and producer who tried to get the DS rights so I could produce a new feature that was more in line with the series. I wasn't able to get them so I edited out the DS and created a completely new project. Chalice Island can't replace Dark Shadows,. But it will continue the tradition with the same kind of suspense, romance, and wicked cliffhangers.

I would like everyone to like and share its Facebook page so that I can prove to the investor that there is still an audience. https://www.facebook.com/ChaliceIsland/

Chalice Island Synopsis

Ignoring the tribal warning, the Cornwall and Hamilton families moved onto an uninhabited island. Their arrogance and ignorance released an ancient evil. Working together with a Shaman, they were able to again imprison it, but in doing so their families became the key to its confinement.

Decades later, before Mildred could stop him, Alberto Stanford broke the seal and swore allegiance to the evil entity. He sealed the pact with her blood. Devastated by their mother's death, Jacqueline and Jackson's grief quickly turned into a murderous rage. Alberto easily manipulated them into blaming a union soldier. Sacrificing him opened their souls to the Master's evil. Mixing their blood with his in the chalice sealed their allegiance. For nearly 150 years they traveled the world, returning each year to perform the blood ritual, which reaffirmed their loyalty. One always needed to remain on the island to maintain control over the family interests and to protect the chalice.

In 1970, it was Jacqueline's turn to stay behind. Claiming to be her daughter, she came to visit her “cousin” Alberto. After faking his death, he and Jackson left. Instead of moving into the Hamilton Manor, Jacqueline reclaimed her parents home. Although, neglected and badly in need of major repairs, she was drawn to the happy memories of her parents. Her dedication to the restoration intrigued Morgan Cornwall. At first, she sent him away. But his playful flirtation reawakened the girl she had been before finding mother's raped and murdered body. In Morgan's eyes, she found the same love she saw between her parents. Her heart began to heal. The first time she chose to stay, Jackson was curious. The second time, Jackson also remained. He needed to know why she had chosen to age normally instead of reclaiming her youth. After meeting Bailey. he understood and he too began to heal.

Suspicious, Alberto returned. In an attempt to regain control, he uses his black magic to terrorizes the island. The evidence trail led first to Jacqueline and then Jackson. Instead of countering with her black magic, Jacqueline hides chalice. She and Morgan run for their lives. Enraged, the Master gives Alberto the length of this life to retrieve the chalice and bring Jacqueline before him. If he fails, he will face the wrath for all three. Before Jackson could escape with Bailey, Alberto transformed himself into Frank and enchanted Bailey into marrying him. Vowing revenge, Jackson leaves.

Working through others, Frank finally finds Jacqueline and Morgan on a small Reservation. Over the decades, she has earned grace. As long as she refrains from using her powers, she will remain untouchable. Yet, Frank knows her true weakness. His first attempt on her children only served to make Jacqueline more obsessive and controlling over their safety. Her smothering made her son angrier and more resentful of being confined to the Reservation.

As the clock winds down, Frank sends the vampire that he created to bring her son to Chalice Island. Jacqueline and Morgan return to find the past has not been forgotten or forgiven.

Releasing the guilt and empowering ourselves

I had an epiphany this morning. Whether you call it Wiccan, Paganism, or fail to label yourself, magic and our connection to the Goddesses, Gods, or the Divine as you know it has always been about taking care of ourselves and our loved ones. In the past, they cast spells and did rituals to have a successful hunt, to grow the crops and to protect themselves from enemies. Over the centuries that changed. It became selfish to ask for what you need and want. This was and continues to be bullshit. Christianity stole and corrupted our holidays as a way to convert people. But they also planted the seeds of guilt as a way to also steal our power. Do what ye will but harm none was never about denying ourselves, but in fact, it empowers us to reach for what we need with the expectation that all things are possible if we chose to believe. The harm none only applies when we deliberately ask for the harm of ourselves or another. It is asking for such specifics that we target a specific person or outcome that we eliminate all other possibilities. It is asking for a specific job at a specific place instead of listing the qualities of the job you want. It's saying give me the manager job at XYZ Company, instead of asking for a manager job that pays $100,000.00 a year, at a place where I can make a difference, are respected and can respect others, etc. Details do matter. This especially applies to love spells, which why most of them are black magic. If you ask for a specific person you usurps their free will and deny yourself the real love you deserve. Think about it, could you really trust a love that you controlled and forced to happen?

It's time to take back our power and our magic. Release the guilt. Ask for what you need and want with an open hand and heart. Expect it to be provided. Along the way bless others for their best and highest good. It's how we can help each other without interfering with free will.

Imprisoned in her family's home, the spirit of a murdered child waits for her parents to free her. But they have reincarnated as has her killer. Randi must bring them back together so that they can forgive themselves and make amends. If she succeeds, they will all heal and she will be freed to also reincarnate. If she fails, their need for revenge will damn them all.

Vanessa Hogle: Psychic Medium Gets the Messages Out There

Three-Time Best Selling Author/Medium Out In Full Force With “Rebel Witch: A Memoir”

(April 23, 2019) There seems to be no stopping this firecracker, Vanessa Hogle. Three-time Bestselling author, with her books in the top 100 Amazon in three genres (paranormal, travel, self-help), is one gal you should know! What makes this unstoppable force stand out is the fact that she did not pursue any speaking engagements or interviews; all her appearances have been from those folks who have found and sought her out.

Rebel Witch: a Memoir, Vanessa's 4th book release is May 31, 2019, and covers in layman's terms, tarot, magic, investigations, psychic sensitivity and many other pertinent topics. Hogle explains each in detail, with personal experiences, so that the reader can find, believe in and utilize their own personal power. Hogle says, “My goal is to educate, entertain and empower.”

Vanessa is doing just that, and by preaching the three E's is sharing her story, getting her message out there. In addition, Hogle has consulted with law enforcement on previous missing person cases continues 'remote viewing' for different organizations and home investigations.

Hogle has done this all while being a single mom working full-time as a dental assistant! Currently holding down 2 jobs, and gearing up for filming her documentary Hidden Gems this summer, Vanessa is one busy and tenacious gal. What one may not know or be aware of is that Vanessa had endured numerous hardships that would have caused many to lose hope: a high school dropout who went back to night school at the age of 21; a rape survivor and survivor of a brutal assault by a stranger; was homeless for two months living out of her car; had six miscarriages and has one living child, and endured emotional and physical abuse in relationships after her divorce. Springfield Mayor Langfelder To Introduce Bill Clutter: Author/Co-Founder Illinois Innocence Project at Book Signing April 8, 2019

(March 2019, Springfield, IL) Former Springfield Alderman Bill Clutter will be holding a book signing event at the Lincoln Public Library Monday, April 8th 326 S. Seventh street from 6pm-8 pm being hosted by Friends of Lincoln Library. Mayor Langfelder will be there in attendance to introduce Mr. Clutter, who served as Ward 1 Alderman from 1987-1991 under Mayor Ossie Langfelder.

Clutter, a private investigator, has penned an in-depth account of his investigation of a rare childhood cancer epidemic that occurred in Taylorville, Illinois after that community was exposed to coal tar by Central Illinois Public Service Company (CIPS) during a 1987 clean-up of hazardous waste.  His work on the CIPS case led to what became an important Illinois Supreme Court precedent that changed the way utility companies cleaned up abandoned coal tar sites in Illinois, requiring more protective cleanup standards.

Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) sites operated in nearly every city of the state before natural gas was discovered.   These facilities converted coal into gas.  Coal tar was a hazardous waste by-product of that process that contaminated the environment.

Clutter began his career by serving the Voting Rights Act lawsuit in 1984 on the City of Springfield.  The lawsuit was filed by leaders of the African-American community who alleged that the commission form of government, consisting of five commissioners who were elected city-wide, prevented Blacks from being represented on the city council.  After a federal judge ordered a new aldermanic government Clutter was elected to the city council in 1987, along with two African-Americans, Dr. Allan Woodson, and Frank McNeil, who was the lead plaintiff in the lawsuit.  Clutter will read from Chapter 4 “Democracy Comes to Abraham Lincoln’s Hometown,” which tells this history.

The book highlights the legal work of two local attorneys; Michael B. Metnick, who filed both the Voting Rights Act lawsuit and initiated the filing of a civil lawsuit against CIPS on behalf of the families whose children were afflicted with neuroblastoma; and civil trial lawyer Thomas F. Londrigan who took over the case and single-handily won a jury verdict against one of the largest law firms in the world, Jones Day, that now represents President Donald J. Trump in the Mueller investigation.

This book is also about more than that. This is also a history lesson, a story of a different form of cancer that eats away at democracy, neo-fascism that seeks to set afire the legacy of Abraham Lincoln,” said Clutter.

“I want this book to be the Uncle Tom's Cabin of our generation,” said Clutter. The book includes the story of how the most famous inaugural address ever delivered by an American president originated in Springfield, IL.  The words John F. Kennedy’s delivered “. . . ask not what your country can do for you-- ask what you can do for your country,” was borrowed from a speech Ralph Bradley, founder of the Illinois Farm Union, delivered to his members.
“Though this story occurred over three decades ago, what happened to Taylorville, Illinois, should be a lesson for this generation.  We need to protect the children by protecting the environment,” said Clutter.

Bill Clutter was one of the co-founders of the Downstate Innocence Project, now known as the Illinois Innocence Project (IIP). Clutter now resides in Louisville, KY where he continues to investigate death penalty cases.  In 2013, Clutter founded a national organization called Investigating Innocence, a non-profit organization that investigates cases of inmates who seek to prove their innocence.  For more about Investigating Innocence visit

Proceeds from the sale of the book will benefit Investigating Innocence.

Coal Tar is available on Amazon, at Springfield's Prairie Archives, and soon at Springfield's Barnes and Noble. For more on the book Visit https://www.coaltarandneuroblastoma.com/
