Until You Walk The Path, You Won’t Know Where it Goes will be chatting the Assistant Director of Counseling at Veterans Upward Bound, Dinu Skariah on May 31, 2016 at 2 pm eastern as we talk about the educational opportunities available for veterans.

Dinu Skariah began his professional career as an educator in a middle school located in Broadview, Illinois. His began employment with Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) at Roosevelt University in September2005. as a counselor. He is an active member of the National Association of Veterans Upward Bound (NAVUB), and have served in NAVUB’s Executive Board in several roles including Vice President, Conference Chair, and Development Chair.

The mission of Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) is to help Illinois veterans improve their lives
through free, educational/career transitional services designed to provide superior support to
returning veterans. Since 1995, Roosevelt University’s VUB has been helping Chicagoland veterans
“knock the rust off their academic skills” through refresher classes, one-on-one tutoring, and online
instruction. Veterans are also helped in identifying the school they wish to attend, by securing
GI-Bill, federal, and state financial aid, as well as through individualized career and academic
counseling.

Horses and Heroes is a Reality TV series, which combines the highly effective Peer Support Therapy with Equine Therapy. Unlike most in the genre, it will focus on healing and positive growth rather than endorsing bad behavior. Each season will bring together the veterans from WWII to the current conflicts. They will be sharing their challenges and supporting each other as they find new solutions. They know the talk, because they have walked the walk. They see the dodges and will be able to call each other on them. Sparks may fly. Tempers may flare, especially when they force each other to face the ghosts. When it airs, it will reach into the homes of the veterans, who need to hear that they are not alone and give them the information as well as the permission they need to also heal. They will help each other find their way back to the world. Veterans can’t go back and make a brand new start; but they can start from now and make a brand new end.
