Women in the Miliary


Until You Walk The Path, You Won’t Know Where it Goes is hosting retired Marine and Army Chaplain Assistant SSG Barbara Anne Kilgore on November 6, 2012 at 1 pm eastern as she talks about her life in the military as a Marine and Chaplain's Assistant.

SSG Kilgore grew up in Cocoa Florida. She enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1980. Serving 6 years she received her Honorable discharge in 1985. She attended Brevard Community College graduating in 1989 with her Associate of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice. She attended the University of Central Florida graduating in 1991 with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and Golden Key Honor Society.

SSG Kilgore enlisted in the United States Army in 1995. Her assignments include Appropriated Funds Cler Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, Battalion Chaplain Assistant 1/6 Calvary Camp Eagle, Korea, Chapel NCOIC and Non Appropriated Funds Clerk Fort Hamilton, Brooklyn, New York, Chapel NCOIC Argonne Hills Chapel Fort Meade Maryland, Chapel NCOIC Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, Brigade Chaplain Assistant NCOIC, 10th Combat Aviation Brigade Fort Drum New York, and is currently assigned as Battalion Chaplain Assistant 63D OD Battalion (EOD) Fort Drum New York. She has deployed in support of OEF VII and OIF VII.

Her Awards include ARCOM 1SOLC, AAM 3OLC, National defense Service Medal Bronze device, Korea Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal CS, Iraq Campaign Medal CS Military outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and the NATO Medal.
