Like all industries, television networks and producers sell a product; in their case, it is entertainment. If the company doesn't provide a quality product that meets the consumers interests, standards or expectation, then it simply will not survive. The viewers are consumers and the product. The networks and TV stations used entertainment, news and sports to attract viewer; after which, they sell that attention to sponsors. Simple, yet some in the industry have forgotten that no matter how much they push a show or idea, if the viewers aren't buying there is nothing they can do about it. NBC, Sony and Corday Productions have taken for granted the loyal viewership of the Days of Our Lives. The viewers are just leaving. The executive are driving them away.

I also feel that letting Drake and Diedre go was a HUGE mistake by TPTB but I will still watch the show to support the veterans that are still on the show.
What so many of you "I'm not gonna watch Days ever again"-ers aren't thinking about is that if you don't watch Days, you will be putting all the other vets out of a job as well by letting the show get cancelled! I personally will not support that.
I really hope that with Drake and Diedre gone it will make more room for Steve and Kayla to have a major storyline of their own.

Steve and Kayla have had more than one big storyline since they returned. Sorry, but I will never support this show again. I don't care if it stays on the air or is cancelled.

My all-time favorite actor had his role terminated after 23 CONSECUTIVE years on DAYS even though he NEVER said once that he wanted to leave the show. Drake wanted to stay with the show until it went off the air but it didn't matter to TPTB. I'll never support the show again that did this to him so as of today, I'm done with DAYS. I'm sorry to the vets left behind because IMO they're in for rough times ahead.

I agree..it will be just like the last time when they "killed off" John. I think they like when they get viewers in a big uproar. I'll still be watching.

There will be nothing to come back to. Even if Days does last more than a couple of month, both Dee and Drake have enough fans that any show who picked them up would get a big boost in the ratings. Rumor has it GH is courting Dee. It's also rumored that Drake wants to go into producing. Once they move on, they aren't coming back, especially they way were treated.
If you believe Corday when he said they would be back, I got a bridge for you. It doesn't go any where, so I'll give you a good deal on the purchase price.
As for thinking of the other vets, they aren't being treated any better than Dee or Drake. It's just a matter of time before their air time goes down to zero and they are off the show in the same way. It a simple race to what happens first. The cancellation or the next vet firing

I love so many vets on the show, but even with my love of John and Marlena the stories have been hard to watch this year. I don't have the heart or energy to stick around and see what they can do to Hope, Steve, Tony, Anna, Bo, etc.

The problem is why should anyone watch if the show no longer entertains them? I can't find a single storyline happening right now that actually entertains me. It has less to do with the characters then he writing. How about TPTB try and gain fans by 1) writing an entertaining show that actually makes sense and gives the fans a reason to want to watch? 2) How about writing for the characters we have known and loved for years and staying true to those characters rich histories? This show could be so much more then it is. They have talented actors but the writing they are given well it stinks to high heaven and no one should have to watch that unless they enjoy torturing themselves. It isn't the fans responsibility to keep this show on the air it is Corday and Higley's responsibility and one doesn't seem to give a damn and they other can't write worth a damn.

That is true that they should rely on history and a lot of Fan fic writers could do a better job but I will continue watching my favorite Charactors and hope that someday the writing might improve. You can't force people to watch or not watch a show. If people are not entertained by the show than they should not watch it.
I hope that Steve and Kayla get a good story now that John and Marlana are gone.

Well, I am not a fan of Steve and Kayla, and I don't believe in watching a show I am no longer invested in nor care about. It's suppose to be entertainment, which is a selfish act. I don't watch shows that I don't like. I don't owe Days of Our Lives anything, nor the remaining vets.

My thoughts are that although I understand this loyalty some have to just two characters in a huge ensemble cast, that we need to remember that there would be no "Dee and Drake" if it weren't for Days in the first place.
Days was around a long time before the characters of Marlena and then John were introduced. There is more to Days than just John and Marlena.
When I finally stop watching this show(which is fast approaching I fear), that I've watched for the past quarter of a century I might add, it won't be because two actors got fired because of a very volatile financial climate. It will be because the story lines suck, the writing sucks, etc. Which unfortunately to me, is what has happened.
Watching Days for me the past few months, years almost, has become a chore, a sense of obligation. There is no longer the anticipation that used to come with watching this show. There is no one left to root for, no one to identify with, no character that is interesting enough to make me want to tune in to find out what happens to them. That is the fault of the writers, producers and casting directors.
Where are the epic story lines? Why do people fall in love at the drop of a hat now, instead of letting the story build slowly, so the viewers can be screaming in their living room... just kiss already! Where is the good vs evil story lines? Days is now a blur of characters that walk around with no meaning, no agenda, no story line. Some prop other characters, some just bed hop, some are fading in to the woodwork. Too many s/l's have started and yet have never gone anywhere.... we get a middle that had no beginning, and never sees an end.
Days, like Mia says, has hardly any entertainment value left to it. It's been gone a long time now, well before Dee and Drake were let go, well before Days turned in to an afterschool special.
There's just nothing special left to this soap anymore. It's all been sucked out by the poor s/l's and crappy writing.
Sorry, had to vent there. I'm done heh.

Mesagirl, I used to enjoy the whole show... over the years that changed until all I cared about anymore was J&M. Of course there is more to Days than J&M, but not for me. I think for many, letting go of D&D is just the last straw.

I no longer trust TPTB at DOOL. After what Corday & Co. did to Drake TWICE and now to Dee who is to say who is next? He/they can profess the end of releases all they want but I don't believe it. Why should I invest any more of my time and emotions in a show that could do this again and again to other characters I love with no warning or apologies and once again see them treated like unneeded extras. No, I don't think I want to take a chance again. My love of Days started on day one, but probably won't last to the end, not when TPTB have so little respect for actors that have devoted half their lives to the show and so little respect for the audience that has supported it. And it is not just about two actors leaving, it is about HOW two actors were summarily dismissed.

Yeah I totally get that. I guess for me, J&M were never the end all be all for me on Days. The only couple that truly resonated for me that strongly were Jack and Jennifer, and they left, and I still watched the show. I'm not saying that no longer watching cuz J&M are gone is wrong for some people to do, I'm just saying that their leaving shouldn't break the show, characters come and go on soaps.
Days suffers from things far worse than just losing two main characters, that affect the entire cast as well as most of the remaining viewers.... crappy s/l's and **** poor writing. Not even the amazing acting talents of some of the cast can save the show. The writing is just that bad.
In some ways, Dee and Drake could be viewed as lucky... getting out before their characters were totally destroyed by this cold mess called Days of Our Lives.

Days of Our Lives: Character Sketch--Stefano DiMera aka Joseph Mascolo
In 1982, veteran actor Joseph Mascolo joined the Days of Our Lives cast as devilishly handsome and manipulative Stefano DiMera. Complex, passionate and frequently controversial, Stefano has been the character the fans loved to hate. Even though family and power have always been important to him, it is the thrill of the hunt and the conquest which is the key to his character. To deny him is to only further attract his attention and in many cases his wrath.
Born the seventh son of a seventh son, Stefano not only considered himself indestructible, hence naming himself the Phoenix, but he also thought himself above the laws of man and God. Raised as the family crowded prince, he was never to be question, but blindly obeyed. Whether friend, family or foe, to disobey his command was to bring down the fury of Stefano. Not only did his charisma and magnetism attract the attention of the women who didn‘t learn to fear him until it was too late, but his intelligence always kept him three moves ahead of ISA and the Salem PD. In many ways his love of opera reflected how he fancied himself to be akin to the Divine as he controlled and manipulated the mere mortals he walked among. The people of the world, including his own children, were merely pawns to for him to use and discard at will.
In spite of the relatively recent rewrite in history, it was not the feud with the Bradys that brought Stefano to Salem, but the long standing dispute with the Bradfords and the legend of the Baka. The Brady's only became targets after Roman thwarted Stefano's plans. Nor was Marlena originally the target of his obsession. Instead, Stefano saw her as perfect wife for Tony. It was only after she interfered with his scheme and stood up to him, that he became fixated with owning and controlling her.
Larger than life, he was always a passionate character with a dynamic personality, whose laugh could be both amusing and terrifying. Stefano wanted what he wanted and it didn't care what he had to do or to whom as long as he achieved his goal. It was his strong will and quick wit that made him in many ways invincible. His schemes were a strange mixture of gothic romance, sci-fi fantasy and horror. From the faking his death to programming memories of one character into another, Stefano quintessential villain that fans love to hate. He was always the master conductor who orchestrated international plots, while his henchmen did the dirty work.
Unfortunately, for the Days and the viewers, the current writers have trivialized him. Instead of the dramatic character that considered the world his oyster, Stefano has been turned into a baby-cooing supporting character for the younger actors. The head writer has effectively castrated the character with her inability to write complex storylines that involve multi-dimensional characters whose power comes from between their ears not between their legs. Instead of being master of all her surveys, the writers have him worrying about grandchildren and his legacy, when the real Stefano thinks of himself as the seventh son of the seventh son destined never to die. The writers sent him out like one of his flunkies on the great diamond caper. Stefano isn’t an errand boy; he would have been at home smoking a Cuban cigar, drinking 100 year old brandy, and listening to opera while his pawns did the dirty work.
Although there are many storylines with diabolical plot and schemes that could yet be written for Stefano, they are not likely to be seen on the screen. No matter how talent the actors, unless there is writers create plots and storylines to for them to hang their performance on, there cannot be romance, drama or suspense; all the things that keep the viewers turning in.
So to quote Shakespeare:
Our revels now are ended. These our actors,
As I foretold you, were all spirits, and
Are melted into air, into thin air:
And like the baseless fabric of this vision,
The cloud-capp'd tow'rs, the gorgeous palaces,
The solemn temples, the great globe itself,
Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve,
And, like this insubstantial pageant faded,
Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff
As dreams are made on; and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep.
So it will be as the sands run out and Days of Our Lives will fade in to history.

Formatting Soap Opera Scripts
In style, television and movie script are similar; however, television programs must format around commercials and station identification. While movies contain a full hour of entertainment, broadcast television is broken down into approximately 22 minutes of entertainment and 8 minutes of commercials per half hour.
Most one hour shows have six 2.02 minute breaks with two 1.34, which fall at the top and bottom of the hour. Generally this leaves 22 minutes per half hour for the actual show, which is broken down further into the teaser/open, three acts and bottom of the hour teaser/bridge for the local break. The second half hour also has three acts, but it is ended with a teaser/closing credits and the top of the hour break.
Whether starting at the top or bottom of the hour, the initial segment, contains the show teaser and opening; its run time varies between 2-4 minutes in length. The following three acts divide the remaining entertainment time between them without any set length; however, most stations, especially during ratings, identify themselves within a two minute margin at the quarter hour; therefore, there is usually a break written in to accommodate this standard. The second half hour also begins with a teaser, which identifies the show and the network, and is followed by a local commercial with identification. Most shows end with a 2-4 minute teaser of the next episode and the ending credits with another local break following.
Unless you have a talent that milks their part, usually one page of script equals one minute of air time. This generality helps the writer pace the storyline and time the scenes to maximize the suspense in order to hold the audience’s attention through the commercial breaks. By splitting the action between multiply scenes to create mini cliffhangers, the writer suspends the action in order to height the drama and prevent channel surfing. It is also how a creative writer creates an effective end of an episode cliffhanger to torment the viewers into returning to see what happens to their favorite characters.

No doubt many of you are asking why the script I have been writing for Days doesn’t meet this industry standard. Very simple. There are two reasons. When I started, it was a protest that I never thought would go any where. Originally I was going to write a few scenes to embarrass the writers into their job. However, I received so much positive feedback that I just kept going. Secondly, a major of my script writing experience was for the stage and screen. Even then, it had been a while since I worked on a long project. My information was not only dated, but I had forgotten a few little details. The new scenes will be in the correct format. I’ve also started the process of reformatting and restructuring the rest to not only meet the industry standards but to also put it into episodes. During the process a few scenes will have to be tweaked, but it will give me a chance to improve them as well. Although I knew how I wanted the storylines to unfold, everything that I have posted still qualifies for first draft status. The reality is that I had put little effort into the project yet it was still be better than the so called professionals; hat do you think I could do if I actually put work it to the project?

EXT: CABIN: NIGHT
In the background, the remains of the cabin are burning. Pieces of the cabin lay burning on the ground. Max has carried Garret far enough away to be safe. Garret is crying; he is scared but not hurt. Unconscious, Bernie lies face down in the dirt a few feet away. Steve leans against a tree: his knuckles are scraped and bruised.
STEVE
The kid okay?
MAX
(Checking Garret for injuries)
He seems to be.
(To Garret)
You scared?
Garret nods.
Me too.
(Wiping his tears)
I'm going to take you back to your mom. Would you like that?
GARRET
Yes. Please.
MAX
(Startled)
Yes. Please.
(Comforting him)
This wasn't your fault.
(To Steve)
How about you? You okay?
STEVE
Oh me. I'm fine. My knuckles hurt a little.
MAX

Max meets Chelsea and Stephanie
MAX
I thought we’d have breakfast first.
CHELSEA
I’m too nervous to eat. Hi Grandma.
CAROLINE
Chelsea, Stephanie. What a surprise.
STEPHANIE
(Going to the bar to get coffee)
Morning. I need coffee.
CAROLINE
It seems to be going around.
STEPHANIE
(To Chelsea)
You owe me big time.
Stephanie, Max and Chelsea sit at a table.
CAROLINE
Aren’t you excited to meet Mr. Olbermann?
STEPHANIE
I’d be a lot more excited later this morning. The signing doesn’t even start for another two hours.
CHELSEA
We want to be first in line.
MAX
You want to be first in line. We’re just going along cause of you.
STEPHANIE
I still don’t see what the big deal is.
CHELSEA
He is a big deal! Think of all the people he’s interviewed. I love his worst persons in the world segment.
MAX
I get it. You’re a fan.
CHELSEA
It’s more than that. I want to know how he crossed over from sports to politics.
CAROLINE
When did you get into politics?
CHELSEA
It’s not the politics. I just like how he makes a difference. He digs in and gets to the heart of the story.
MAX
Isn’t he a commentator?
CHELSEA
Yea, but he was also a sports reporter and a news anchor. That’s what I want to do.
MAX
You and sports?
CHELSEA
No. Reporting.
STEPHANIE
I thought you wanted to work in business like me.
CHELSEA
I wanted to talk to you about that. It’s boring.
STEPHANIE
No, it’s not.
CHELSEA
Yes, it is Steph. It’s the same thing every day. Suits, ties and endless meetings. I want to be a combination of Olbermann and Geraldo Rivera
CAROLINE
I can see you doing that. You had the courage to stand up for your sorority sisters by exposing Ford Decker. I was very proud of you.
STEPHANIE
Max?
MAX
Don’t look at me. I’m with her. I hated the business part of the garage.
CAROLINE
Doesn’t Victor own a few TV stations? He could help you get a start.
CHELSEA
I’ve already talked to him about an internship this summer. I’m going to be a gopher for the news editor. He also thought it was a good idea if I got some technical experience.
STEPHANIE
We won’t be able to take classes together.
CHELSEA
We can hang out after.
CAROLINE
Anyone want breakfast?
STEPHANIE
I’m too tired to eat. I studied for finals most of the night.
CHELSEA
I’m too excited. Do you think we should get in line?
STEPHANIE
(Sitting at a table)
Not me. I’m staying here until the doors open.
CHELSEA
Come on Steph.
STEPHANIE
We just came in. Did you see a big line forming at the bookstore door?
CHELSEA
No. But I want to be the first to meet him.
MAX
(Pointing toward the door)
I don’t think that will be a problem.
Keith Olbermann walks in with Mandy Baker. In her mid to late 30’s, Mandy Baker is a woman of contradictions. Her body language gives the impression that she is on equal footing with Olbermann, yet there is a fear in her eyes that she cannot hide.
CHELSEA
(Loudly)
Oh my God.
KEITH
No. But Bill O thinks of himself that way. I’m just a humble commentator.
CUT
INT: BEDROOM IN DIMERA COTTAGE: EARLY MORNING
Although the bedroom is very lavish, it is also very impersonal and cold. Lucas is in bed. Marlena is has just finished examining him.
MARLENA
Lucas, you need to be careful. You pulled a few stitches and there was little bleeding.
LUCAS
I picked up Johnny.
MARLENA
Didn’t Miles give you a list of things you can and cannot do?
LUCAS
Mostly cannot.
MARLESA
You have to take this seriously.
LUCAS
I am.
MARLENA
Even with the pins, your ribs are still very fragile.
LUCAS
No lifting. No sudden movements.
MARLENA
No intimacy.
LUCAS
Yea, that too.
MARLENA
We’re serious.
LUCAS
It’s not an issue. Sami and I agreed that we weren’t just going to pick up were we left off. There are too many things that have happened. We still love each other, but until we work things out, we’re not going there. We have agreed to take it slow We have to learn not only learn how to trust each other again, but to have faith.
MARLENA
How uncharacteristically sensible.
LUCAS
It’s about time, don’t you think.
MARLENA
I think you are both very passionate. Sometimes it has made you both say and do things that you regret.
LUCAS
Sometimes?
MARLENA
How do you feel about Sami?
LUCAS
I love her very much. I think I always will.
(Thinking)
If it wasn’t for my mother and EJ
MARLENA
You and Sami would be happily.
LUCAS
But it all happened. The vendetta. The divorce. Sami marrying EJ.
MARLENA
EJ getting shot.
LUCAS
That too. Sami was trying so hard to make it up to her family for what she did in the past.
MARLENA
We’ve forgiven her for that.
LUCAS
Have you really?
MARLENA
What do you mean by that?
LUCAS
Think about it. When something happened, didn’t everyone--including me--automatically think the worse? If it had been Carrie, instead of Sami that my mother set up with Brandon wouldn’t Carrie been given a chance to explain. A benefit of doubt.
MARLENA
Carrie’s different.
LUCAS
Yes, she is. Sami has a history. So has Carrie. What Sami has never done is cheat. The same can’t be said of Carrie.
MARLENA
I know Carrie hurt you.
LUCAS
Yes. But she also cheated on Austin with Mike. But that’s not my point. Carrie was forgiven and the slate was wiped clean. No matter how Sami has tried to change, her past is still there--not just for her family, but also for her. It was the guilt that made her agree to Stefano’s terms. She was willing to sacrifice her happiness to proof to her family that she changed.
MARLENA
We tried to tell her.
LUCAS
You know Sami. She can’t always trust what people tell her.
MARLENA
Especially when our actions contradict our word.
LUCAS
Exactly.
MARLENA
She’s not the only one who sacrificed her happiness.
LUCAS
I don’t know what you mean.
MARLENA
You’re stilling lying to Sami.
LUCAS
I don’t know what you mean.
MARLENA
I talked to Will. I know the truth.
LUCAS
It’s over and done with.
MARLENA
No. It’s not. Sami has to know the truth. She is miserable with out him.
LUCAS
I know.
MARLENA
They are both hurting.
LUCAS
I know that too. How do you think Sami would feel if she knew?
MARLENA
The guilt would be incredible.
LUCAS
After everything that‘s happened. It would be more than she could handle. Sami is like an oyster.
MARLENA
(Amused)
An oyster?
LUCAS
When Sami gets hurt, she doesn’t deal with it directly. She wraps it up in anger, but she doesn’t really deal with it. Just like an oyster does with a piece of dirt.
MARLENA
I’m going have to call you on that. When Sami’s angry, everyone knows it.
LUCAS
True. She shows the angry--not the hurt or the guilt or any of her sadness. She simply doesn’t deal with them. I had a lot of time to think in prison. About her and me. We have both been so afraid of showing how other hurt us because we were certain that they would do it again. I kept waiting for the trauma of the rape to hit. When it didn’t, my own issues-my fears kicked in. I thought maybe it wasn’t rape--that Sami wanted him.
MARLENA
That wasn’t true. Sami never would have--
LUCAS
I know that now. Burying it and making nice with EJ was Sami saving her family. It took me a long time to see it.
MARLENA
She still needs to know the truth.
LUCAS
How do you think Sami would feel if she knew her actions led Will to shoot EJ?
MARLENA
I think it would be more guilt than she could bear.
CUT
INT: OUTSIDE BEDROOM DOOR: LATE AFTER NOON
Sami is listening at the door.
LUCAS
(Off camera)
That’s why you can’t tell her.
MARLENA
You can’t keep it hidden forever.
LUCAS
No. Just until she is strong enough to deal with it.
Crying, Sami backs away from the door and runs down the hall.

Saving Days of Our Lives from Cancelation
For generations Days of Our Lives has been not only much loved but the top rated Daytime soap, being the leader in suspense, drama, romance, and comedy, as well as social issues. As the sand fell through the hour glass, we laughed, cried and waited with baited breath for Monday as the cliffhanger left us dangling on Friday. We had a our favorite heroes and villains--couples we cheered for and those we knew who were doomed for failure.
From the Horton and the Bradys to villainous DiMeras, the writers and actors helped us suspend our disbelief through obsessions and possessions. The brain child of Ted Corday, Betty Corday and Irna Phillips, it premiered in 1965. In the decades, since it has become a TV icon that has been satirized and vilified by those who don’t understand the gothic romance nature of the soap. The Cordays never intended for Days to just meet the industry or viewer expectations but to always exceed them by taking their storylines past the limits and breaking the old taboos. Although it was always cutting edge, it was based on the love of family and friends.
However, in the last couple of years, the decline in the writing has been followed by a decline in the rating, bringing the long soap to the brink of cancellation. Even long time fans, who inherited the love of the show from their mothers and grandmother, were turned off by the lack of suspense, drama, and romance. They missed the humor and the weekly cliffhangers, which had been replaced by the never ending triangles and the destruction of beloved couples.
The random murder of beloved characters brought the wrath of viewers down on the executive producers forcing them to rewrite the storyline in such a ways as to say--just kidding folks. It was the beginning of a long line of poorly thought out and badly written storylines that have made it tied for last place in the ratings. Day’s fans can be rabid and obsessive, but they remain loyal until given good reasons not to be.
My mother got my hooked on Dark Shadows back in the late 1960’s. When it was canceled she moved on to Days of Our Lives and I followed. I have been a fan since Doug and Julie were the super-couple. I grew up with Hope and Bo, cried when Tom Horton died, laughed with Eugene--was severely annoyed to see my favorite character Renee DiMera being carried out feet first. I missed two days and it took me decades to actually learned how she died. Back then the stories were forward moving; they didn’t try to exist on flashbacks.
I know the characters and the history, which is why when the current writers proved they didn’t have a clue into either I started writing an alternative universe Salem and posting it on the NBC message boards. It was out of frustration and anger at being treated like an idiot that made me take the time to create my own storylines. Originally, I wasn’t taking it seriously. I had my novels to write and I had just started my own publishing house. Time was a premium, but I just wasn’t willing to let go of one of the constants in my life.
The postings have a great many typos; plus, the formatting didn’t properly transfer. But it was fun and it didn’t matter. However, the other posters really liked my work. Not only did they ask me to continue, but also suggested that I contact Ken Corday for the head writer gig.
Wow!!! That was excellent! And you soooooo got NuJohn's speech down pat! In the past I would have said there was no way we'd get something like this...but, Days has been getting better, so who knows?

Girl, I think you DO have a chance in hell! I have watched Days for 25 years or so, and this is some of the best s/l's & dialect I have seen in a looooong time! You really capture the "feel" of the show and the characters personalities! I LOVE that you are involving all the characters! I LOVE that you have wonder and suspense - with this mystery woman and the "haunted" part of the house. I LOVE that Doug will be singing again! And I am happy to see Lucas back - yay!
SERIOUSLY - if I were you I would submit this ASAP! LOVE IT!!!! BRAVO!

I really think they should hire you for the show as the head writer. Since I see a lot of your stuff any way on the show it really is to bad that you aren't getting paid for it.
One of the main things that I like is that with your writing I have been able to read the whole thing with all the characters that you have involved with your story. Were as with the show I fast forward a lot through it.
I wish you good luck, and hope that you get the job!!

Days of Our Lives Spoiler: Murder in Salem That Will be No Mystery
Murder in Salem That Will Be No Mystery
Days of our Lives is setting up the murder of Trent. The suspects have already been lined up; each threatening to kill him for their own reasons. But in short, who cares?
Trent Robbins is a physics professor who appears in Salem initially to be Nick's advisor. However, later it is learned that he is Max's biological father and part of Nicole's past. In the months Trent has been on the air, he has gone from being a dead beat dad to someone who would pimp out his daughter to pay his gambling debts. Along the way he has pissed off a good portion of the Salemites.
Recently, it was released that the character would be murdered (Again, I say-who cares?) and Salem will be embroiled in a great murder mystery. However, there will not be much mystery for those who are long time soap fans. The writers have already telegraphed their moves.
The suspects:
Max Brady--He hated Trent for deserting him as a child and abusing his mother. In addition, after he found his half-sister, he learn that Trent attempted to pimp her out to pay his gambling debt.
Melanie--Trent's daughter now hates him for lying about having a brother and using her to try to pay his debts.
Caroline Brady--Max is her son, even if she didn't give birth to him. Trent hurt and continues to hurt him. Like any Mama Bear, she is rising up to protect her young.
Nick--Trent is threatening to expose Max's help in receiving Nick's grant, thereby discounting all of Nick's work, which would cost him his grant.
John Black-DiMera--Trent made the moves on Marlena, which triggered John's jealousy. John is becoming increasing unstable; the blackouts are just around the corner, opening the door to John not remembering what he did during the time Trent was murdered.
Marlena Black--Trent has been harassing her trying to force he into a relationship. She has repeatedly told him to buzz of, but like any pest he didn't listen, so she has threatened to squash him.
Nicole--Trent used and abused her in the past, deserting her when she needed him the most. From the get-go she hated him. However, that hate deepened the more he manipulated her. He revealed that he had never divorced her, which meant that she was never legally married to Victor. The revelation cost her the divorce settlement.
The unnamed bookie--It has been revealed that Trent is a compulsive gambler, who is heavy into debt to those who break legs for fun.
All of those listed above have threatened to kill Trent; hence the so called murder mystery. However, there isn't a mystery.
Caroline will think Max did it so she will try to cover it up. implicating himself.
Max will think Melanie did it so he will try to cover it up, implicating himself.
Stephanie will think Max did it so she will lie and in doing so make Max look more guilty. She will has her Papa to find the real killer. Steve PI will be led to the gambling underworld where he will unravel Trent's gambling history.
Nick will be a suspect because of his motive as well as he will be seen in the area; however, he will be quickly moved from the suspect list to the witness list.
Chelsea will come to his defense, trying to get Nick back. She will lie in order to give Nick an alibi that he doesn’t actually need; thereby, putting him back on the suspect list.
John will see Trent threatening/making another pass at Marlena. Marlena and Trent will fight. Marlena will be knocked unconscious. When she wakes up, John will be incapacitated-either unconscious or in a trance. Trent will be dead. Marlena will get John out of there, thinking he killed Trent. She will be briefly be a suspect. John won’t remember anything until the crucial moment when he gets his memory back.
Nicole will be a prime suspect because of the money and the marriage. However, EJ will come to her rescue when he digs in to Trent’s past and learns that yes they were divorced and Victor still has to give her the money. However, this will happen after there is some question about Trent being the father of Nicole’s baby and EJ revealing that he doesn’t care--he loves her anyway.
However, the identity of the murder will come will come out of left field. Steve’s investigation will lead him into the gambling underworld; however, it will also reveal Melanie’s mother and the true murderer . Melanie’s mother will appear in town if she isn’t there already. No it isn’t Nicole. But a meek, mousy woman who has been abused by Trent for years. She will finally gain the backbone to put an end to Trent’s abusing her daughter by killing him dead.
