Maya Angelou: The Miracle of Recreating Yourself

"I am" are two of the most powerful words we can use. They declare to the universe who we are as a person, as a soul, and determine the effect we will have as we interact with others. More than a simple adjective, the words that follow define how we see are selves and thereby sets the pattern for how others will both see and treat us.

I am beautiful as opposed to I am fat ignites the beauty within and allows it to shine. True beauty doesn't come from what we look like, the clothes we wear, the car we drive, or any of our other possessions. It comes from within. Marilyn Monroe is still considered one of the sexist and most beautiful women in the world, yet she frequently wore a size 14. She could turn her "sexist" on and off by just changing her perception of herself. When she wanted alone time, she became Barbara Jean and she was anonymous in a crowd. However, when she became Marilyn she could turn on pilots flying at ten thousand feet. It was all a matter of attitude and perception. Other people did not have the power to create the change. Marilyn was the only one who could defined herself. It was this definition that others saw.

In my own life, there was a schism between what I believed and what I thought. I couldn't understand why there was such a difference between the image I saw in the mirror and the one that manifested in photographs. The woman I saw in the mirror was beautiful and happy. In pictures, I looked like an old sourpuss. The mirror reflected who I am. The pictures revealed what I thought of myself. Like so many I could Photoshop and change the picture. But it would not change how I saw myself. I'm the only one who can make the image in the mirror truly real by believing that I am beautiful--which I am.

Beauty is only the most obvious manifestation of the power we have within us. No one else can give or take away our ability to define ourselves. It is something we do every moment of every day whether not we believe we have the power to do so. Other people merely a reflect back the image we ourselves have created.
In reality, we create what we believe. The only question is how we will use this ability. That is the difference between successful people and those who see themselves as victims. Those who flourish firmly know life is full of challenges that they are more than capable of successfully meeting. They have the confidence to believe that they control their destiny. They've grown their roots deep into that knowledge. When challenges blow through their lives like the mighty oak they have the power to stand fast and tall, because they have well rooted their lives in their own positive support system.

Victims, on the other hand, believe that life is something that happens to them. They see themselves as powerless. Instead of a tree they see themselves as leaves in the wind being blown about by the whims of others, fate, or the Divine. Like leaves on a tree, when they are attached to others they appear alive, strong, and vibrant. But as with breaking the connection between the leaf and the tree causes the leaf to wither and dry, those people, whose confidence comes from others loose their vitality and power.
They become fearful, angry, and resentful when they are separated from what they thought was their support system. They fight to reestablish the connection with the original or with a new support system. Until they reconnect they will be fearful, angry, and resentful, because they feel powerless. If however, they changed their perspective from the leaf to an acorn, they could grow their own roots and become a tree instead of being just a leaf. In doing so, they recreate their lives and manifest more positive end results.

This does not mean that we must stand alone. A grove of oaks with their roots intertwined is more powerful than solitary tree. But a support system is only as powerful as its weakest member. It is this reason that strong and confident people reach out to one another. They know that by working together and sharing their resources they are more able to successfully achieve their goals. It's not what you have that is important; it is what you believe about yourself that will attract like minds. Whether an acorn or a tall tree, it is your positive energy--your confidence, your surety, your innovation, your belief in yourself that will attract who and what you need to be successful.

A leaf is not a tree, no matter how many times it claims to be so. The next breeze proves who we are. A tree will trust in it's roots. An acorn will dig them deeper. A leaf will allow itself to be blown away. Just like no one else can define us, we cannot define others. This power cannot be taught or given. It is grown from within. It is the light that only shines from the inside out. It is the passion that ignites when we change the core beliefs about ourselves. Every moment of every day we decide to be an acorn or a leaf. It is never too late to become an acorn. It is never to late to believe in yourself. All it takes is saying, "I am ready".

Surf Warrior Project

Until You Walk The Path, You Won’t Know Where it Goes will be chatting with Veteran Advocate Paul West on July 3, 2014 at 1 pm eastern. West will shares his experiences and the benefits of the Surf Warrior Program.

An East Coast Legend and has over 32 years of surf industry experience. Paul West has also traveled internationally for many years as a Surfing Ambassador promoting the sport of surfing in a positive way. He is an excellent role model in all respects and loves to share his knowledge of the ocean with others. Paul has been introducing the sport of surfing to people for virtually his entire life and he hopes to help you fulfill your surfing dreams. He is very active in the community, not only locally but worldwide.

Paul West became the competition director for the USSF in 1998 After years of competitive surfing, he found himself on the promotional side of surfing. His experience with the contest scene is unparalleled. He has ran the surfing competition for the East Coast Surfing Championships – ECSC for the past 30 + years as well as several hundreds of other contest. One of the premier programs that Paul was instrumental in developing is the Super Groms. It began 15 years ago at ECSC with a “free” push and surf beginner level – introduction to surfing for kids 10 and under. Another outstanding program that Paul and the USSF has developed is the Surf Warrior. It is a partnership with the Florida Surfing Association and the Wounded Warrior Project. It is now in it’s 4th year and has grown into a national program. Teaching veterans at the WWP how to surf and eventually compete in the ECSC. This program meets weekly during the summer in a variety of locations.

The USSF was once the national governing body for the sport of surfing in the United States and now has progressed into an institutional and philanthropic organization, touching lives directly and impacting the sport of surfing at a grass roots level. If you would like more information or would like to become involved please contact us.

The Surf Warrior Program was developed in 2011 by the United States Surfing Federation in partnership with the Wounded Warrior Project™ (WWP). The program began in Jacksonville Beach, Florida with the help of the Florida Surfing Association who supplied the equipment and instructors. The Wounded Warrior Project selects 8 vets who get to learn to surf during a six-week program while developing an ever-lasting “surf family.” WWP’s purpose is to raise awareness and enlist the public’s aid for the needs of injured service members; to help injured servicemen and women aid and assist each other; and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs.

In 2012 the program grew to two more regions on the east coast; Navarre Beach, Florida and Virginia Beach, Virginia. The Surf Warrior Program also held their first championship at the East Coast Surfing Championships in Virginia Beach. 3 Surf Warriors were selected from each city and given the chance to become the ultimate Surf Warrior!

The original goal of the Surf Warrior program was to change the vet’s lives through the power of the ocean. The program proved to do just that has a group who participated in the Surf Warrior program for the past two years out of Jacksonville Beach, now hold their own “surfing sessions” every Saturday morning.

Help for Veterans: Suicide shouldn't be an option

.

We are producing a documentary, which will help veterans, called Horses and Heroes,  But we need your help to make it happen.    We are looking for veterans, who would be willing to go through the therapy and honestly share their experiences.  We also need your support finding introductions with companies who would benefit from  product placement sponsorship in Horses and Heroes, such as USAA, New Day USA, Mutual of Omaha, Ford, GM, etc.

Please share the link to our new video and our website on your page as well as on your other social networking sites.

To learn more about Horses and Heroes as well as how you can help please go to our website at http://cproduction5.wix.com/cosmos-productions-#!page3/cee5

I've just listed Horses and Heroes on Slated.

Horses and Heroes is not about pointing fingers or creating a political firestorm.  It is a documentary, which will help military personnel and veterans find a new way to cope with the physical and emotional challenges brought into their lives by war.  Equine Therapy does not involve drugs nor lying on a couch and spilling their guts.  What it does do is help them find new ways to see and react to their emotional triggers.  It helps their bodies remember how it used to work.  It can't replace what was lost, but it can give them the confidence to see that they are more than the sum of their body parts.

Please share our link and our information on your page and with your other social networking sites.  Together we can make a difference.

Saving Our Wild Life Saves Ourselves and the Future

Our wildlife, our environment and our resources are national treasures that need to be protected from the greed and selfishness of the special interest groups.  Only by working together will we be able to stop them from destroying the country and the world.

I would very much like to be able to improve the quality and the quantity of my wildlife videos.  However, to be able to do that I need updated equipment.  I have created an Indiegogo campaign to help me buy some of the equipment that I need.  If you like what you see, please contribute what you can to my campaign and recommend that others do the same.   There is only ten days let to my campaign.   Together we can make a difference.

Awakening the Dragon: A Tale of horror, suspense, and murder

Awakening the Dragon: Book One of the Dragon Clan Trilogy

"I don’t have the courage to do it myself. Hear my prayer. Moon Goddesses both light and dark see the truth hidden in my heart. With your eyes so full and bright, bring the evil truth into light. Help justice prevail by removing the veil. So the murderer will be known and be forced to atone. With greed and hatred in her heart, she forced loved ones to part. No matter how she lies and hides, show all others where the truth resides. No mercy or grace shall be offered or granted--" Suddenly he couldn’t think of a word to rhythm with granted. He didn’t care. The hatred in his heart made his intention clear; nothing short of vengeance would satisfy him. Ceremoniously, he drank the liquid, believing himself too drunk to be heard by the Goddesses.
Across the time and space separating deities from mortals, they heard him and the others’ petitions for justice. They heard and said, "So mote it be."

Kevin's prayer set in motion the events that brought Rachael to Coyote Springs. In doing so he set in motion the karmic reckoning, which will rip open old wounds and force Rachael to awaken her dragon spirit prematurely. As the dragon rises within her, the cult surround her home with the intent on killing the new witch who lives inside and burning the evidence of the murder of the previous owner

I have finished editing and typesetting Awakening the Dragon--Book One of the Dragon Clan Trilogy. It will be available as a Kindle shortly. However, you can buy it on my site now for a lower price. It is a PDF file, which most devices can open
