Until You Walk The Path, You Won’t Know Where it Goes will be chatting with author, Vietnam Veteran, and retired diplomat Charles Ray, on June 22,2013 at 1 pm eastern a he talk about how his life and career inspired his novels.
Charles
A. Ray is a retired Foreign Service Officer who served 30 years in
the US Foreign Service, and before that, 20 years in the US Army.
During his army service, including two tours in Vietnam, he served in
Military Intelligence, Special Operations, and Public Affairs, with
tours of duty in Germany, Korea, Vietnam, and Panama, as well as
posts throughout the U.S., and retired in 1982 with the rank of
Major.
During
30 years in the Foreign Service, he was posted to China, Thailand,
Sierra Leone, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Zimbabwe. His overseas
assignments included service as Deputy Chief of Mission in Sierra
Leone during that country’s transition to democratic rule, he was
the first US Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and was
ambassador to Cambodia and Zimbabwe. From 2006 to 2009, he was Deputy
Assistant Secretary of Defense for POW/Missing Personnel Affairs and
Director of the Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office.
Since
retirement from public service, he has been a full time freelance
writer, and is the author of 30 books of fiction and non-fiction,
including three books on leadership. He is a frequent blogger and
contributor to several Internet news and content sites. Ray is also a
photographer and artist, and has worked as a journalist and artist
for a number of publications in the US and abroad. During the late
70s he was editorial cartoonist for the Spring Lake (NC) News, a
weekly newspaper near Fort Bragg, NC. He is now the first chairman of
the American Foreign Service Association’s Professionalism and
Ethics Committee.
A
native of Texas, Ray now makes his home in North Potomac, MD, a
suburb of Washington, DC.

When
Elwood Tucker, a low level member of a crime organization, is
targeted for death by his boss, he comes to Al Pennyback for help.
Reluctant at first, when Al learns that Seamus O'Grady, the crime
boss, exploits underage girls, he decides to take the case. When
O'Grady kidnaps Al's assistant Heather Bunche, it becomes personal.
Al, with help from retired CIA agent Carlton 'Blood' Raine takes the

given some much-deserved leave. Ben decides to stay on Fort Union,

He has to train them on the job, deal with warriors who would rather
die than live on the reservation, and, as usual, cope with the
prejudices of white settlers who resent seeing black men in uniform.

The
assassination of a minor official in the country of Dagastan sets in
motion a chain of events that have international repercussions.
American embassy deputy, David Morgan finds himself having to deal
with an explosive situation when his ambassador engages in
clandestine meetings with officials who plan to take over the
government. At the same time, Alison Chambers, a State Department
intelligence analyst, and Lee Kennedy, a diplomatic security agent,
find themselves the targets of a vicious assassin when they look into
the murder of a State Department desk officer who has been inquiring
about the assassination. In Dagastan and in Washington, DC, a shadowy
group known only as the White Dragons, appear to be manipulating
events for unknown reasons, and anyone who gets to close to the truth
of what they're doing ends up dead.
